Who runs this

Open Dragon's Prophet is an unofficial, fan-run game server operated by a private individual based in Europe. It is a hobby project: nothing is sold here, there are no adverts, and your details are never sold or used for marketing.

What is collected, and why

Account name and password, to create your game account. The password is stored as a hash (a scrambled form), never as you typed it. Please pick a password you don't use anywhere else.
Email address, to send the confirmation link when you sign up and to help you recover your account. Nothing else is sent to it.
IP address, recorded when you sign up or enter a beta code, to stop automated sign-ups, code guessing and other abuse.
Your beta code: a record of which invite code your account was created with.
Game data. Once you play, the game server stores your characters and progress, and keeps logs of logins and in-game activity, which may include your IP address, to run the game and investigate problems.

This is used only to provide your account and the game, and to keep the server secure.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie, od_beta, after you enter a valid beta code. It remembers that registration is unlocked for you, lasts 2 hours, and is needed for sign-up to work. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. The “verify you are human” check is run by Cloudflare, which looks at technical details of your browser to tell people from bots and may store a small item in your browser to do so.

Services this site relies on

Cloudflare carries all traffic to this site and runs the human check, so it sees your IP address and browser details. Cloudflare privacy policy.
Resend delivers the confirmation email, so it receives your email address and account name. Resend privacy policy.
Google Fonts supplies the lettering on these pages, so Google sees your IP address when the fonts load. Google privacy policy.

Your account details and game data themselves are kept on the server's own machine in Europe, not with a hosting company.

How long it is kept

A sign-up you never confirm is removed after its link expires (24 hours).
Your account, email address and game progress are kept for as long as your account exists.
Sign-up records and security logs are kept while they are useful for protecting the server, and no longer.
Ask, and your account and everything linked to it will be deleted.

Your rights

Your details are handled in line with European data protection law (the GDPR). You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. You will get an answer within one month. If you are unhappy with the reply, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.

The game is not aimed at children. If you are under 13, please don't sign up.
